About The Artist
Susan kae Grant is an inventive and influential artist, educator, and early proponent of photographic book arts. She lives in Dallas, Texas and is Cornaro Professor of Visual Art, Emerita, Texas Woman’s University. She is on the staff of the International Center of Photography (NYC) where she has taught, The Art of Photographic Bookmaking workshops each spring since 1994.

Grant’s innovative studio practice and distinct personal vision represent one of the mediums more sustained and recognizable contributions to fabricated photography and book art. She has lectured and exhibited throughout the United States and internationally, from Spain to Japan.

Her ongoing touring immersive installation of Night Journey and her curated exhibition Photographic Book Art in the United States (1991-1995) have traveled to over 30 venues between them.

Starting in 1981, Susan kae Grant developed nationally recognized undergraduate and graduate photography and book art programs at Texas Woman’s University and was named Cornaro Professor of Art, Emerita in 2018.

Susan kae Grant holds an MFA and BS in photography and book arts from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. From 1981-2017 she served as Head of Photography & Book Arts at Texas Woman's University where she developed nationally recognized undergraduate and graduate programs. In 2018 she was named Cornaro Professor of Art, Emerita.
